What We Do

LSC Bureaucracy Task Force

In 2002 the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) appointed a Bureaucracy Task Force, under the leadership of Sir George Sweeney, to recommend how to cut bureaucracy in the Further Education sector. We were appointed by the LSC to support the work of the Task Force.

Early in their considerations the Task Force identified a need for greater trust between the LSC and the Colleges - but felt that they had to articulate carefully what they meant by a trusting relationship. As a result, one of the contributions of Rocket Science was to work with the Task Force to design a Relationship Scorecard. The Scorecard was a tool which enabled local LSCs and Colleges to measure the quality of their relationship and pinpoint the priority areas for development.

Rocket Science designed and facilitated a series of regional workshops around England to discuss the initial findings of the Task Force. The feedback gained during these workshops was used to produce the Final Report, Trust in the Future. We are now supporting successor organisation, the Bureaucracy Review Group, chaired by the Controller of the Audit Commission, Sir Andrew Foster.
