Bob Forsyth has specialist knowledge of youth issues and has worked with local, national and international structures to address them. He is a skilled facilitator of organizational and strategic change and has particular expertise in engaging with and involving communities in change processes.
Past life
Bob's professional experience comprises work with voluntary sector agencies, NHS Health Promotion, academic research institutions and government agencies. He has designed and managed volunteering opportunities and has designed, managed and researched informal education initiatives with young people and communities. At the Scottish Community Education Council Bob established the Scottish Youth Issues Unit which developed joined up policy and practical solutions to youth issues across Scotland. The work of the unit included national training programmes with the Scottish Police College, with Employment Service Personal Advisers and with housing services. The Unit published research into housing issues for young people, national guidelines in drugs education and a database of practice was developed. Bob facilitated a strategic partners group and a national community health issues forum.
Bob was part of the first cohort of students to be awarded a Certificate in Community Education Studies by the European Centre for Community Education following study and practical placements in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. He has served on the board of charitable organizations dealing with disabilities and drugs issues. He is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the Scottish Youth Issues Journal.
